"STRATEGIES OF ECOLOGICAL EDUCATION IN THE XXI CENTURY"

First announcement

The VI International Conference "Strategies of ecological education in the XXI century" is going to be held in accordance with the decision of the 2nd All-Russian Conference on Environmental Protection and the resolution of the V International Conference on Ecological Education.

The Conference includes the following panels:

  • Environmental education of children: future development (innovative pedagogical technologies, practical ecology, children's ecological movements);
  • High school environmental education;
  • Ecological courses for the public;
  • Interaction of the public and governmental organizations on the problems of environmental education;
  • International cooperation and foreign experience in environmental education.

Round table discussions:

  • Mass-media and environmental education;
  • Environmental education in the military forces;
  • Environmental education in the family;
  • Environmental movements and ecological education.

The conference will be hosted by the International Independent University of Ecology and Politology (IIUEP, Moscow).

Confirmations will be sent before April 1, 2000 after approval of the abstracts by the Programme Committee.

The abstracts will be published before the beginning of the conference.

Participants will be accommodated in Moscow hotels and the hostel of IIUEP.

The conference program:

Jule 3rd - plenary sessions

Jule 4th - working sessions

July 5th - final plenary meeting, press-conference, departure.

Official language is Russian. For foreign participants synchronous translation will be organized.

Deadline for abstracts (not more than 2 pages) is February 1, 2000 (date identified by the postal stamp or the e-mail message time).

Report submission

 

Abstracts (not more than two pages) should be submitted in Russian or English (for the foreign participants), printed in Times New Roman, 12 points, single spaced, paper format 210 x 297mm, upper margin - 20mm, lower margin— 20mm, left margin — 30mm, right margin — 10mm.

Abstracts and the filled application forms should be sent to the Organizing Committee by

  • mail (a diskette 3,5" with the attached file in MS WORD, version not higher than 6.0/95);
  • e-mail with a non-archived attachment file in MS WORD (version not higher than 6.0/95); for Russian participants the covering message shall be encoded in KOI-8 or CP-1251.

The abstract should be single-spaced and include the following: the title of the presentation, the author(s) names(s) (the suggested speaker should be placed first), the full name of the organization, address, the abstract text.

Annotations should include title (1 interval), name of the author (if there are several authors, the suggested speaker should be placed first), the full name of the organization, address, (1 interval), annotation text (up to 20 words).

The application should include the full name of the author (name(s), surname), citizenship, scientific degree, scientific title, name of organization, position, contact address (business or home): address for mail, telephone number including area code, fax number, e-mail address; fields of scientific interest, name of the working section (round table).

Material that will not fit the forms or is sent by fax will not be accepted.


Attendance fees are 120 dollars for the participants and accompanying persons. The sum should be paid during registration. The fee includes conference materials, tea/coffee, and the banquet.
