ROLE OF NON-GOVERNMENTAL
ORGANIZATIONS IN ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION

Program

First announcement

In accordance with a decision taken at the IV International conference on environmental education the subject of the V conference to be held in 1999 is "Role of non-governmental organizations in environmental education".

Discussions of the IV conference showed that currently the role of the government in environmental education is getting less and practically, main activities both at regional and federal levels are carrying out by non-governmental organizations. It is time to analyze the results of this activity and show governmental bodies an absolute necessity to strengthen it with an active involvement of the government.

That determined objectives and tasks of the V conference.

The following sections will be opened at the conference:

· Non-formal environmental education of children;

· Open environmental education of youth;

· Public environmental education;

· International experience and NGOs cooperation in environmental education.


And round tables:

· Interrelation of public and governmental organizations in environmental education;

· Philosophic problems of environmental education.


Summary reports on the main subjects will be made at the plenary.

The conference will be hosted by International Independent University of Ecology and Politology.

The invitation to the conference will be sent before April 1, 1999.

The conference proceedings will be published before the conference opening.

Participants will stay at Moscow hotels.

The conference program:

June 1 - after 4 p.m. participants arrival

June 2 - plenary

June 3 - working sessions

July 4 - final plenary, departure.

Reports submission

The reports should be submitted as thesis (not more than two pages) (in Russian or English), printed with 1 interval; paper format 210 x 297, upper margin 20mm, lower 20mm, left 30mm, right 10mm, Times New Roman, 12.

Thesis and the application should be sent by:

· mail with a diskette 3,5" attached as a file MS WORD (version not higher than 6.0/95);

· e-mail with an attachment as a file MS WORD (version not higher than 6.0/95); coded KOI-8 or CP-1251 for Window's 95.

Thesis should include the title report (1 interval), the name of the author (if there are several ones, the first one should be a speaker), the full name of the organization, city.

The application should include the full name of the author, citizenship, scientific degree, the name of the organization, occupation, full address, tel. number with area code, fax number, e-mail address, an area of scientific interests, the name of the section.

Official languages Russian and English.

THESISES SHOULD BE SUBMITTED BEFORE FEBRUARY 1, 1999 (by the stamp on the envelope of by the date of e-mail massage)

If materials are presented in a different form rather than requested or sent by fax they will not be considered.

Participation fee is 150 USD.
